Dear Sassy Reader,
Welcome to Sassy Survivor Breast Health Alliance. It has been sometime since I greeted you. I am so happy to be back to let you know of the wonderful blessings God has provided. Sassy Survivor Breast Health Alliance (SSBHA) has continued to participate in Breast Health and Breast Cancer conferences and looking forward to a productive 2024. Sassy Survivor Breast Health Alliance continues to expand our resources. I am very happy to announce that the organization is looking for additional Navigators. We have not only helped women in California; but God has led us to women in other states as well. I feel like Jabez when he cried out to God, “Oh that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! We are experiencing this at Sassy Survivor. God is so Good!
I want to strongly encourage you to remember the importance of getting your annual mammogram this year. Breast Cancer is a priority and the number 2 killer of Black Women after Heart Disease. If you have not gotten your annual mammogram for 2024, please make an appointment. We all have hectic lives. However, we must take care of ourselves. Self-Care is Self-Love.
There are new articles on the website related to: Mental Health, Starting Chemo, Post Symptoms, Her2 Breast Cancer and one disturbing article about the rise of Mortality Rates in Black Women. That article alone should have all Black Women getting checked at 40! Not 50, 40! Insist upon it. It is your right! One more thing to be aware of; if you are under 40, there are certain situations where you should get checked as well.
Let’s focus on our body, mind and spirit. I’m going to challenge each of us, to make some tangible changes to what we eat, moving our bodies and developing a stronger spiritual life. I include myself in that. I had major health challenges in 2023 with my heart resulting in weight gain. I’m battling to get it off. Let’s make it fun and see what magnificent Blessings will come through the challenge.
I’d love to hear from you and I’d love to hear your story. As always, I Thank God for each of you as I continue to keep you “Aware”.
